Day 1- Guatemala City
Airport pickup. Tour around Guatemala City.
Day 2 - Guatemala City to Antigua Guatemala
Begin with informal presentations about the communities to be visited and tour around one of Guatemala’s oldest cities, Antigua Guatemala.
Day 3 - Antigua Guatemala to Quiché
Visit the community of San Juan Comalapa to learn about weaving and painting. Lunch at el Restaurante Chichoy located in Agua Escondida. Stay in Chichicastenango and visit la Morería (traditional dance outfit workshop). Attend a
traditional mask making workshop. Experience the largest Maya market day in Guatemala.
Day 4 - Quiché to Sololá
Visit Sacapulas to observe the local Mayan production of river salt, silver, and traditional candy making. Lunch in the highlands of Quiché. Visit the catacombs in Gumarcaj and Pascual Abaj.
Trip to Santa Catarina Palopó to appreciate one of Guatemala’s greatest wonders, Lake Atitlán. Stay at an eco-friendly bungalo in Solola.
Day 5 - Sololá to Quetzaltenango
Boat tour to Santiago Atitlan and visit Maximon (Maya patron god of Santiago Atitlan). Visit indigenous cooperative weaving group. Stay in Quetzaltenango.
Visit Eco Sauna. Attend a spiritual workshop (saturación).
Day 6 - Quetzaltenango to Guatemala City
Return to Guatemala City, where we part, refreshed and renewed…
