Radiance Maca, Immunigize

Cat’s Claw has been used for centuries by indigenous healers to support the immune system and to help the body detoxify.

It is an excellent, and gentle, bowel cleanser. Purity helps reduce sugar cravings, and resets the essential proper flora balance in the intestines. Symptoms such as gas, bloating, and constipation are helped by Purity Cat’s Claw.

Purity keeps your immune system functioning effectively and has an anti-inflammatory effect on joints and tissues. The potent antioxidants in Purity Cat’s Claw can ease the effects of aging and environmental damage on your body.

                                           Background

Cat’s Claw or Una de Gato, Uncaria tomentosa is named for the cat’s claw-like spines located on the underside of the leaves of this woody vine. It is native to the Amazon River Basin, where it is used widely as a sacred medicinal plant.

                                       Indigenous Uses

Stagnancy and stressors lead to imbalance, and continued imbalance leads to physical and spiritual illness. Purity Cat’s Claw is used to remove stagnancy in the body first by being a superior bowel cleanser, as well as helping to reset proper flora balance in the intestines. As a result, Purity Cat’s Claw enhances the normal physiologic functioning, lymphatic drainage, and detoxification of the body.

Purity Cat’s Claw also has an effective anti-inflammatory action on joints and tissues of the body, making it a safe alternative in the treatment of arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. In addition, Purity Cat’s Claw contributes to the support of the immune system.

Cat’s Claw has been used for centuries by rainforest cultures “to treat the following conditions: inflammatory conditions, asthma, gastric ulcer, viral infections, menstrual disorders…gonorrhea, cancer, diabetes, and tumors” (American Botanical Council, para. 1). It is also useful in the treatment of osteoporosis.

The doctors of Earth Healers have found it useful in conditions of diarrhea, constipation, gas, and bowel syndromes. Research attributes these therapeutic effects in part to the phytochemical constituents, including unique alkaloids (which are a group of molecules that have a pharmacological effect on humans), polyphenols and triterpines found in significant concentrations in Purity Cat’s Claw.

                                   Conditions of Inflammation

The herb also shows “antioxidant and radical scavenging activities” (Goncalves, et al., 89). It has been shown to be “an effective antioxidant… [and also] a remarkable potent inhibitor of tumor necrosis factor alpha production” (Sandoval, et al., para 1), which is responsible for aforementioned inflammation, also involved with autoimmune conditions such as Crohn’s disease, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Purity Cat’s Claw may be effective in relief from these and other conditions resulting from TNF alpha activity.

Many studies validate the herb’s general therapeutic effects. The anti-inflammatory action is most probably related to the “presence of proanthocyanadins and phenolic acids, mainly caffeic acid…[there is researched] evidence for an antioxidant mechanism underlying the anti-inflammatory activity of cat’s claw and support [of] some of the biological effects of proanthocyanadins, more exactly its antioxidant and radical scavenging activities (Goncalves, et al., pg. 89). These antioxidants help reduce cell damage due to disease and aging.

                                  Immune System Response

Researchers are currently evaluating the many previously determined positive effects in treating different types of cancer with cat's claw and additionally, the plant is being researched for effectively reducing viral loads in AIDS patients. A study done by Y. Sheng, L. Li Holmgren and R. W. Pero on “DNA repair, mitogenic response and leukocyte recovery after chemotherapy-induced DNA damage in vivo”(pg. 275) showed a “12-15% increase”(pg.279) in bodily DNA repair. “Decreased DNA damage and increased DNA repair are often accompanied with faster recovery of immune cell number and enhanced immune function (response)” (Sheng et al., 281). This explains also why the herbal is being considered for treatment of AIDS patients. Environmental damage to the body may also improve with treatment with the herb.

In a study by Klaus Keplinger, et al., researchers examined the “ethnomedicinal use and new pharmacological, toxicological, and botanical results” (23) of cat’s claw. “Thirteen individuals with HIV-infection, who refused to receive other therapies, voluntarily took…extract of U. tomentosa” (27). “Although the total leukocyte number remained unchanged within the whole collective, it was found that low [leukocyte] values were raised and high values were lowered [or normalized]…and the relative and absolute lymphocyte count increased significantly” (30), thus showing cat’s claw “can be safely used in long-term therapy whenever a normalization of lymphocyte counts is desired” (32). These benefits were attributed to similar compounds as cited in the Sheng, Goncalves, and Sandoval studies. This normalizing effect is useful for everyday body balance and can keep your immune system working at peak performance.

Purity Cat’s claw cleanses and brings the body back into the balance we know is essential-or, as the Ashaninka Indians of Peru say when they are healthy, “nocaratanaje” or “I carry harmony.” Now you can carry harmony, too!

Cleanse your body, and support your immune system with Purity Cat’s Claw.
